Thursday 24 August, 2pm and 7pm.
Meet at the bandstand in Barrow Park.
FREE - Booking is essential:
Join Tim Shaw for a sound journey around Barrow Park.
Ambulation is a walking performance that uses listening technologies to harvest diverse sounds from the immediate environment.
Drawing on field recording techniques, Tim records acoustic sounds and electromagnetic waves as he walks.
He captures, repeats, processes and mixes these sounds using his own portable equipment. He improvises an event that intertwines past sound events with those that come along the way.
A group of people follow him, each wearing wireless headphones, witnessing a strange, live field recording performance. Ambulation has been performed at 38 different festivals and events around the world.
Tim will also be holding a drop-in at Piel View House on Wednesday 23 August as part of Sound Rangers. Learn field recording techniques and other cool sound things!
Tim will also have a sound installation at Piel View House, Barrow Park, Wednesday and Thursday 23 and 24 August. FREE entry. Just drop-in.
Tim is an artist working with sound, light and communication media. Presenting work through performances, installations and sound walks, Tim is interested in how affective environments can be constructed or explored using a diverse range of techniques and technologies.
