Full of Noises 2013

Our third FON Festival took place earlier this year in the usual mix of sacred and profane sites across Barrow in July. You can find some marvelous photographs by Benedict Phillips and video by Mary Stark here from what was a wonderful few days of performance, installations, talks, demonstrations, food, and conversation with old friends and new faces from across the country.

From our base on the Furness Peninsula, FON 2013 presented new work from a bewildering range of international and UK musicians and sound artists, commissions from resident artists, re-creations of classic pieces from the past, lectures on some of the key figures of sound art contemporary music, hands-on introductions to technology and equipment, and free family friendly installations in Barrow Park on the sunniest weekend of the year. All this and sushi from Grizedale Arts.

FON number four (not to mention five and six) is already being argued over, so watch this space, and if you missed it in July get to Cafe Oto in January for a flavour of what was and what will be…
