Mémoires d'un Amnésique - A piano, a film and Erik Satie in his own words

Alex Metcalfe turns back time to become legendary pianist Erik Satie.

Join us for a night of sound and vision dedicated to the maverick and innovative French composer.

Alex performs Satie's most important works, in character as the composer from the set of his Arceuil apartment.

Sarah Miles’s script, edited from Satie's own words, is narrated against the backdrop of Keith Lovegrove's black-and-white surrealist film.

The film is shot in the style of early French cinema, with references to Jean Cocteau, Man Ray and Luis Buñuel, using Satie's own words for the narrative.

Born in 1866, Erik Satie's spare, unconventional, often witty style exerted a major influence on 20th-century music.
