NikNak is a music creative, DJ, producer, turntablist and experimental sound artist. Her debut album “Bashi” was released to critical acclaim in November 2020.

Describing herself as “Leeds' pint-sized Turntablist and music creative”, NikNak redefines and expands upon her role as a ground-breaking multidisciplinary artist.

The first Black Turntablist in history to win the illustrious Oram Award in 2020, NikNak ‘makes experimental music far away from what our expectations should be’ - Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.

Hailing from London and now living in Leeds, NikNak creates stunning soundscape-based live improvised performances.

She also runs a workshop introducing turntablism at Full of Noises on the afternoon of the concert (1-3pm). This is free - but you need to book here.

The Groove Shaman

Also on the bill is Cumbria-based Groove Shaman - real name Loki.

Loki: "I love thinking about patterns in music while creating it, and I wonder if some of what we find aesthetically pleasing is a reflection of the mathematics of the universe.

"But at the end of the day, I want people to dance. Dancing is a way to transmute the emotions of the music into the physical, changing your emotional state with it."
